中国剪纸是中国最古老的民间艺术之一。中国剪纸是一种用剪刀或刻刀在纸上剪刻花纹，用于装点生活或配合其他民俗活动的民间艺术。在中国，剪纸具有广泛的群众基础，交融于各族人民的社会生活，是各种民俗活动的重要组成部分。

        今天我们在中文课上学习中国剪纸。首先，我把红纸、剪刀发给学生，然后教会她们折纸，最后把复印好的剪纸图案发给学生，让她们自己来剪。班上的同学都剪得十分认真，并且对自己的剪纸作品很满意。

        Chinese paper-cutting is one of the oldest folk art in China. Chinese paper cutting is used to decorate life or with other folk activities of folk art. In China, paper-cutting has a long history, blending in the social life of people of all nationalities, is an important part of various folk activities.

        Today we are studying Chinese paper cutting in Chinese class. First of all, I sent the red paper, scissors to students, and then taught them how to fold the paper, and finally gave the copy the good paper-cut pattern to the students, so that they can follow the pattern to cut. Students tried their best, and very satisfied with their paper-cut works.

        我在TECH高中所教的中文课虽然是初级中文，但是这个班级的学生在上小学期间曾经上过沉浸式中文班，有些中文基础。因此，我对她们的要求比普通初级中文班要高，不但要求她们会读，会认，还要会书写汉字。昨天刚学习完的中文词汇，今天就开始默写了。我发现默写的效果还不错，基本都能够写正确，这说明她们课后还是花费了时间复习。以后我会逐步提高对她们的要求，加大中文写作练习。

        The course I taught in TECH high school is Basic Chinese, but the students in the class  had been  in Chinese immersion classes when they were in elementary school, so they had learned something about Chinese. Therefore, I have higher requirements for them than to the ordinary Chinese classes, not only requiring them to read Chinese passages, but also to write Chinese characters. Yesterday we had completed the learning of some Chinese vocabulary, today we begin to do dictation. I found that the results are pretty good. They can write most of the Pinyin and Chinese characters correctly, which indicates that they spent time on reviewing after school. In the following weeks, I will request them to do more practice on writing.

 

 

 

感恩节

感恩节快到了，为了帮助学生更好地结合美国文化，学习好中文，我给学生布置了一项任务，让她们用英文介绍美国的感恩节。讲述感恩节的历史，意义，以及美国人是如何度过感恩节的，感恩节的主要食物等等。然后，我将这些内容用中文表述了一遍，并把关键词汇写在黑板上，便于学生记忆.

Thanksgiving is coming. In order to help help students better integrate the American culture into Chinese language learning, I set an assignment for the students to complete, which is to make a presentation on the way of Thanksgiving celebration, the history of Thanksgiving and traditional food for it. Duorui, Ruolan and Zhouzhou worked together to give a Thanksgiving presentation. After that, I gave students some  key words about Thanksgiving in Chinese written on the blackboard for students to remember. I translated what they have said in Chinese after the presentation.

 

 

 

难忘的一天

        今天，是个特殊的日子。洪磊先生要来访我们孔子学院。他现在是中国驻美国芝加哥总领事馆的总领事，曾经是中国外交部发言人。以往总在电视上看到洪磊先生代表中国外交部发言，知道他是一位很有才华的外交官，今天能够近距离地接触他，感到很荣幸。

        Today is a special day. Mr. Hong Lei is visiting our Confucius Institute. He is now the Consul General of the Chinese Consulate General in Chicago, who was a spokesman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry. Hong Lei, who has always seen on TV, speaks on behalf of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, known as is a very talented diplomat. I feel very honored to be able to get close contact with him today.
